Up Before the Sun
Sep. 8th, 2008 11:16 pmI wish I had taken more computer classes in lecture halls, now. Or, that the wireless campus network was more developed when I first got here. The guy a few rows in front of me and to the left in class today was playing some random popular military game during the entire lecture. Watching him wasn't nearly as much fun as watching all the other bros in the five rows behind him stare enthralled and drooling at his screen trying to figure out which game, where, how, etc. The room is also big enough, and freshmen so uninspired to attend class, that I get to witness friends discovering for the first time that each other are in the class together every time I show up early. I don't get why people complain about this class before it starts every session. I've seldom been so entertained.
I've worked the dawn shift at the bagel place for three days straight. I can't help talking bagel shop stuff for a bit. Forgive me.
Found out today that the manager who got transferred from the one branch to the other and whom I worked under at both had two harassment complaints filed against him before he left. I find it amusing as hell. I think I was one of the few females who his behavior didn't really bother, though. My father's such a veteran asshole that I can easily ignore (or sharply banter back to) most jerks. Though, I did hear this from one of the guy shift managers who has been around for about two years and whom was also bothered seeing the girls teased and the like.
In other bagel place news, I think the entire staff wants to fire this new guy named Greg. The new round of employees for the fall all started about a week an a half ago. Most are still shaky, but getting the hang of things. It's bagels and sandwiches. Not too complex. But, this guy. Holy crap. I asked him to help me slice and bag the preorder of two and a half dozen bagels for a church group on Sunday morning. I cut at least 15 bagels in the time it took him to almost cut half of one, sigh like an emo kid about five times, and then throw the bagel away because he'd given up. I called him out on it and he gave some emo kid bull shit response like, "I'm just not feeling this today." Except, he's that slow and that unmotivated in everything he does everyday while at work. And, he screws up everything as well. One of the female shift managers told me when he's on the register he's usually about $20 short after a few hours. Hopefully, Jeff isn't too bashful about firing this guy. I mean, come on. Food service isn't rocket science. I'm half convinced he's doing it on purpose, though.
Anyway, I made rice crispy treats and chocolate chip cookies today. They're all getting sent to Japan tomorrow. I hope. Things have a way of getting in the way of me sending packages.
