A TV station contacted our school and asked if they could borrow some foreigners for a variety show. Apparently they're going to make foreigners play ping pong with slippers as promo for the Japanese broadcast of the giant table tennis tournament occuring in China next week. I... totally forgot and so half the house is going, not including me, because I didn't wake up early enough to shower today. Buh.

I'm only a little jealous of those going because... I have no desire to be a foreign monkey on a TV variety show, but it would have been amazing to see how one of those is filmed in person. I mean, I know what it looks like, but still. If they ask again, I'm definitly along for the ride.

In other news, I forgot to mention ages ago, but I have tickets to a TVXQ/DBSK concert. And, Tim, giddy with the announcement of Ken Hirai's tour, asked me to tag along with him when he hits up Nagoya. So, that's on the schedule, now, as well. I still kinda want to see Arashi if they go on a summer tour early enough in the summer that I can go and possibly Monkey Majik, Koda Kumi, and/or Otsuka Ai.

In other, other news... I didn't make it to the post office today, either. Almost two weeks of not making it to the post office. Seriously, though. Why are there two posts offices in the area and both of them are over a mile walk from here? Whose idea was that? Huh? I feel like I need to gather provisions and assemble a party just to quest there to send anything. Geez.

Just send the package from I-House. You go give it to kanrininsan and then he will call the post office people to come pick it up. You pay when they come, or if you have exact change then you just give the money to kanrininsan.

Hey! Yeah... But I still can't find appropriate sized boxes in Kahma. I guess I'm not looking hard enough. *sigh* Might have to help me just a tad with this whole little endeavor. >.>

One thing about Japanese Tv that fascinates me and I am sure it does you as well, is just how outlandish it is at times. Yes they have good drama shows and sitcoms , along with some fun to watch Sentai. But alot of it by Western standards can be considered politically incorrect and down right racist.
The way the "round eye" person is portrayed as the Goof on alot of shows (Ultraman Max is a good example) Unless your a well known Actor like Sean Connery, then they treat you like a God.

I dont think you would have stood up to being the Gai-Saru. But the behind the scene stuff would be interesting.

Working at some of the Sci-Fi conventions and meeting with the Actors, I got to learn alot from how they film the TV shows (Like Battlestar Galactica) I learned I never want to be an Actor ;-)

From the reports given to us by our peers, this show was pretty low key and local and small. And, late night. But, they had more scandal afterward when they (4 American men) were on their way home and got hit on by a bunch of hosts. >.> I'm especially thankful I didn't go, now.

You and me both! Just not something I'd ever be cut out for.
